your goddess within*

*and why you should feel like one

The other day, a guy told me I was a sex goddess.

Which is true, but it still made me blush and think about what I had done to receive such a comment. It made me reflect on all the work I’ve put into loving myself, and my body, learning about sex, and enjoying it without guilt. I wrote about that, the situation, the guy, the importance of sex, and how comfortable you should feel with it. Until something incredible happened that made me realize all of these thoughts amounted to one thing: self-love.

It happened yesterday, after writing that article, feeling proud and happy, I was walking down the streets of Paris with my dog (a cliché) as I listened to my favorite song with my AirPods on. I was disconnected from the world when a woman stopped me. She was the most beautiful creature I had seen in ages, with radiant skin and a smile of peace and promise.

She talked to me, but I couldn’t make out the words with "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" blasting in my ears. So, I took an AirPod off and said, “Oui?” She smiled at me, looked me up and down, and said, “You look like a goddess, all in white walking down the street with a smile on your face” There was no mention of my sensuality or a sex goddess in those words—just joy, appreciation and sweetness. She gave me the most beautiful smile and left before I could even say thank you.

So, thank you to that woman, because she made me see, she made me feel the self-love I’ve not given myself lately. Of course, I take pride in being called a sex goddess, and that is a story for another time. But for now, in this short article, I want to make something really clear: don’t define yourself through others, whether they be men, women, or connected to sex. You are a god/dess in all its forms. People might notice this about you and express it, showing their enjoyment of your presence. But the real power comes when you take a moment to look at yourself, like holding up a mirror to your soul, and see the amazing god/dess you are inside. Because you are. Dive into your feelings and thoughts, and face your true loving self. You are magnificent, beautiful, magical, and mystical. Go deep inside yourself, face yourself, and shower yourself with as much love and light as you can muster. Connect, connect, connect with that magnificence, the magic, and mystery inside of you. See yourself, embrace that god/dess, and hold onto that feeling, make it a part of you.

Just like that stranger showed me yesterday, in the most surprising and loving way. It can be challenging, but once you start seeing that god/dess, then you will see that light in everyone. And maybe, just maybe, change someone’s day as that goddess changed mine; on a breezy summer night walking down the streets of Paris.

Be a god/dess, feel like one, act like one, and spread that mighty power.

With mighty love,

Lo
